鳥が小枝を拾い巣をつくり、羽ばたくような炎を描くこのストーブに“ BLACK BIRD “という名前をつけました。

自身の薪ストーブへの興味は、建築家の中村好文さんのNAYANと、デンマークのストーブHETAを知ったことからはじまります。

中村さんがデザインしたNAYANは、シェーカーデザインで窓を開けた状態で焚き火のように直火を愉しむ”暖炉”
一方、HETAは炉の窓を閉めた状態で、外側から炉内へと配置した一次燃焼エアーから未燃焼ガスをさらに燃焼させる、二次燃焼機能を持っている”薪ストーブ”

リスペクトする建築家の“暖炉” と、北欧が生んだ高機能 ”薪ストーブ”
両側にある魅力を取り入れたストーブを作るために試作を重ね、無駄装飾ないデザインの中に、自然吸気を行うエアーボックスを設け燃料に熱風を当てることで二次燃焼を起こし効率の優れた燃焼を設計しました。

背面の空気層と、火力調整レバーによって起こす二次燃焼で炎のオーロラを出現させながら、前面や横面へ効率的な放熱をします。

小枝の取手のついたカバーは、オンシーズンにはアッシュトレイに、オフシーズンにガラス面の保護に。
前面と背面の窓をシンメトリーなデザインにすることでどちらにもカバーをかけて置くことができます。

どの角度からも美しく、それでいて家具のようなクラフトマンの手仕事や機能美を感じるデザインに仕上がりました。

The NAYAN fireplace was made by an architect Kobun Nakamura I respect.
Then there's the HITA wood stove, a highly functional stove from Scandinavia.
I wanted to make a stove that combined the appeal of both sides, so I worked with a steelmaker on multiple prototypes over the years.
And then I designed the burner to be highly efficient by directing hot air from the air box that takes in air onto the firewood, causing secondary combustion.
The ashtray protects the glass surface. Also, by making the front and back windows symmetrical, both can be covered.
The design is beautiful from any angle, yet has the functional beauty and craftsmanship of furniture.
We named this stove "BLACK BIRD" because it depicts a bird picking up twigs to build a nest and creating flames that look like flapping wings.
